A smartwatch or a wearable device usually comes with its standard design and is known for the features rather than the design. But with Samsung, at least in the smartwatch section, you get to see some customization possibilities. There are interchangeable straps available for both, the Samsung Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo smartwatches.
There’s color options available for the straps, and both, the Gear 2 and the Neo use the standard 22mm band. Thus, it isn’t hard to change the bands, and at least you aren’t getting something proprietary, so the customization is possible here. The best part in all these, is a metal band which would give a clear competition to the Pebble Steel, the second-generation smartwatch from Pebble Inc.
As it reads on Samsung Mobile Press:
One way to stand out is to coordinate your bands with the season, your outfit or your mood. Since the new Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo both use a standard 22mm band, you can change bands to customize your look and personalize your style to keep your Gear 2 on trend whether you’re going to work or out for the night with friends.
We’re sharing photos to inspire your style, but the possibilities are endless. Stand out in a crowd by trying a stainless steel band for a classic look or a red leather band for a pop of color.
There is no mention about the availability of these neat looking bands from the Samsung stores or anywhere else. But the 22mm band size makes it clear that you could just walk into any branded watch store and get the strap removed and replaced with a new one with an interesting look.
Frankly, I loved the concept of the strap used by Samsung in the Gear 2, where two locks used, and you would see the two straps attached always, thus giving a little safety from the direct falling of the watch from the wrist.
