Samsung Gear 2 Smartwatch Camera Capture & 720P Video Samples
It’s already a good thing when your smartwatch or something worn on your wrist can capture photos, but with the growing technology in the wearable arena. It should soon be a competition between the devices which will have a camera embedded, but for now one of the smartwatches that have a decent camera is the Gear 2 from Samsung. It comes with the 2-megapixel shooter located on the bezel area (which was shifted from the strap in the Galaxy Gear).
The location of the camera isn’t good for those who are fond of taking selfies, as this is meant to capture what you see in front of you. Following are a few camera samples, that we took using the Gear 2 smartwatch’s 2-megapixel camera. They are not the best in quality, but decent enough for someone who has no better option and wanted to capture something.
The camera app in the Samsung Gear 2 doesn’t pose any important options, but the touch to capture is very neat where you see the quick processing and capturing. Once the photo capturing is done, if the Gear 2 is connected to the Galaxy smartphone, then it would automatically send the captures to the smartphone using the Bluetooth connectivity.
Followed is a Video Recording Sample captured while in flight in 720P format that is limited to 15 seconds per clip and we recorded four clips and merged into a video as shown below.
The Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch was recently launched alongside the Galaxy S5, Gear 2 Neo, and it runs the Tizen OS. While the compatibility is with a very limited number of smartphones, the interface in the Gear 2 itself makes it easy to use and independent.
Do you own a Gear 2? tried the camera on the smartwatch? Do share what you captured, and we would be happy to include them in the gallery.
