Best Android Smartphones to Buy Under Rs 10,000 in India – May 2019

The recently launched smartphones in the sub Rs 10,000 price segment offers best in class specifications. Also, these devices are now embracing the current design code of smartphones – waterdrop notch on the front and glossy finish gradient body.

Realme C2 – Rs 5,999

The new launched Realme C2 is the successor to Realme C1 and Realme C1 (2019) smartphones. It sports a polycarbonate body with a premium looking diamond cut design on the rear. The device comes in 2GB + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB storage variants and is priced at Rs 5,999 and Rs 7,999 respectively. It is one of the cheapest smartphones to come with modern looking waterdrop notch display and dual rear cameras. On the front, it comes with 6.1-inch notch display with HD+ (1560 x 720 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.

As said earlier, the device comes with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie based ColorOS 6.0 out of the box. In terms of optics, the Realme C2 sports 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. While the device misses out the fingerprint scanner, it supports face unlock. It is also backed by a 4,000mAh battery which should offer more than day-long battery life. It will be available May 15th via Flipkart and Realme websites.

Realme 3 – Rs 8,999

As seen with the Realme 1 and Realme 2, the recently launched Realme 3 also brings the latest mid-range chipset to the sub Rs 10,000 segment. The company also sold more than six lakh units in the first month alone. The device comes with a glossy finish body and is available in gradient color options. It comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The waterdrop notch also increases the screen-to-body ratio up to 88.30%. It packs the powerful 12nm MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core chipset coupled with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU.

The device is now available in 3GB + 32GB, 3GB + 64GB, and 4GB + 64GB  storage options. Based on the rumors, the company might also bring the 8GB + 128GB storage variant in the coming months. Talking about the cameras, the Realme 3 sports dual camera setup featuring 13MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. It also sports a 13MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The device comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and face unlock support. The base variant of the Realme 3 smartphone is available for just Rs 8,999 on Flipkart and Realme websites.

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core – Rs 5,290

After several leaks and rumors, Samsung finally launched the Galaxy A2 Core in India in April. It is the successor to the company’s first Android Go smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core. Also, the new Galaxy A2 Core is the first Android Go smartphone to come with Android 9.0 Pie (Go edition) out of the box. The device is priced at Rs 5,290 and comes in Black and White color options. Unlike other entry-level smartphones, the Galaxy A2 Core will be available across the country via offline stores. It is one of the best entry-level smartphones that can be purchased at your nearby mobile store.

In terms of design, both the Galaxy A2 Core and Galaxy J2 Core look similar. Just like its predecessor, the new Android Go smartphone from Samsung also comes with the same 5-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) display. Under the hood is the Exynos 7870 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. It comes with just 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. However, there is a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 256GB. In terms of optics, the Galaxy A2 Core comes with a 5MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. It supports dual VoLTE and is backed by a 2,600mAh battery.

Redmi Y3 – Rs 9,999

If you are here for a selfie-centric smartphone, then the newly launched the Redmi Y3 is the best smartphone to choose. The base variant of the device with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage is priced at just Rs 9,999. At that price, the Redmi Y3 is the most affordable smartphone to come with a 32MP selfie camera. Apart from the top-notch selfie camera, the device also offers decent hardware. It is available in Blue, Red and Black color options with gradient finish on the rear. It is backed by the 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 506 GPU.

On the front, the Redmi Y3 sports a 6.26-inch HD+ (1520 × 720 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device is also available in 4GB + 64GB storage variant. Talking about the cameras, the Redmi Y3 comes with 12MP + 2MP dual camera setup with f/2.2 aperture and a 32MP front-facing camera with f/2.25 aperture. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery and comes with a 10W charger. The device also runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. The company also opted for the P2i nano-coating to make the device splash resistant.

Redmi 7 – Rs 7,999

The Redmi 7 is the same Redmi Y3 but misses out the 32MP selfie camera. It is the best option for those who don’t care much about the selfies. Even with the same hardware, the Redmi 7 is priced slightly lower than the Redmi Y3. While the 2GB + 32GB storage variant is priced at Rs 7,999, the 3GB +32GB storage variant costs Rs. 8999. While the Redmi Y3 comes with Aura Prism design, the cheaper Redmi 7 comes with Aura Smoke design. It sports 3D curved glossy finish body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front. The device comes with the latest MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie.

As said earlier, both the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3 shares similar hardware. It comes with the same 6.26-inch waterdrop notch display with HD+ (1520 × 720 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 Mobile Platform coupled with 2GB/3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also a dedicated MicroSD card for further expansion of storage on this device. Coming to the camera department, it sports 12MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the rear and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.

OPPO A5s – Rs 9,990

The OPPO A5s is the latest A-series smartphone to launch in the country. It is also the first smartphone under Rs 10,000 price range to come equipped with the powerful Helio P35 chipset. As of now, the device comes only in 2GB RAM variant and is priced at Rs 9,990. The company also announced to launch the 4GB RAM variant very soon. It comes with 6.22-inch HD+ (1520 × 720 pixels) display with waterdrop notch and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the front. Under the hood, the OPPO A5s comes powered by MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz and PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

Talking about the cameras, the OPPO A5s packs 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera setup with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. However, the device runs on the older ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The OPPO A5s comes with a fingerprint scanner on the rear and also supports face unlock. It is backed by a 4,230mAh non-removable battery and measures 8.2mm thickness. On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, and MicroUSB 2.0 Port.
