From the last couple of months, Huawei is teasing the Mate 10 smartphones by poking fun at Apple and Samsung. Today, the company has officially unveiled two new smartphones in the Mate series called Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate 10 Porsche Design at an event held in Munich, Germany. As teased earlier, the devices will be powered by the Kirin 970 SoC, the world’s first mobile AI processor with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This new AI processor is said to make these devices up to 60% more responsive.
Following the trend, the new Huawei smartphones also feature FullView displays offering long 18:9 aspect ratio. All the three devices come with metal and 3d glass combination. On the front, they come with all-screen displays with narrow bezels and supports HDR 10. While the Mate 10 comes with Cat.16 LTE modem, the Mate 10 Pro features even more advanced Cat.18 LTE modem and offers 1.2Gbps download speeds. They will be powered by the EMUI 8.0 (previous version is called EMUI 5.0) based on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
While the Mate 10 Pro comes with IP67 certification, the Mate 10 is only limited with IP53 certified. The Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 Porsche Design lacks the 3.5mm audio jack and comes with USB Type-C to 3.5mm port adapter. On the connectivity front, the devices include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, and USB Type-C port.
