Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate announced that along with their Reliance Jio 4G services, the company would be selling its 4G enabled handsets. Last year in December they launched the first series of handsets with LYF branding. Though don’t get confused, LYF phones are not a part of Reliance Jio, but it is rather a subsidiary of Reliance Retail.
The public launch of the Reliance Jio Infocomm services are yet to start, but the company is gearing up to offer some incredible Internet Data plans. Consumers purchasing any 4G Ready LYF smartphone will get 30GB high-speed 4G Data, it includes LYF Phones in all ranges; Flame, Wind, Earth & Water. It includes 10GB of data per month at 4G Speed, while you can do unlimited browsing after 10GB as well but a lower speed of 256 kbps. Note that this introductory plan is only valid for three months.
With every LYF phone, you’re allowed to get one Jio services enabled SIM card, postpaid or either prepaid. This Free Internet Data plan is exclusively for LYF smartphone users, so you cannot avail it on any other smartphones than LYF branded phones. As a part of the offer, consumers will get a free subscription to the premium Jio Apps such as Jio Pay, Jio VOD (Video on Demand), Jio Beats, Jio Mags, Jio Drive, Jio Money and couple more apps. These apps would come as a pre-installed package on the LYF handsets.
The interesting applications to note from the apps listed above are Jio Money, Jio Play, Jio VOD and Jio Beats. With Money application users would be able to pay across shots, restaurants, taxis and for other services, it is a safe and secure digital wallet, which should save the hassle of moving around with cash. If you’re familiar with Paytm Wallet, then you’ll easily understand this service’s purpose. It will also enable you to do bank transfers more swiftly and pay your bills at a click of on-tap.
While talking about the apps like Jio Play, VOD and Beats, they’ll allow you to watch 350+ TV channels on your handset in HD format, as well as you can watch advertisement-free content from thousands of titles. And if you like to listen to music on-the-go, there is an app for that too; it will have all the latest songs spanning in 20+ Indian languages. Now we are only waiting for the Jio service to roll out to public, which is expected to be live sometime in April. Are you excited for this 4G VOLTE network to launch in your city? Let us know in the comments section, if the Jio service would be available in your city or not.
Note: This information has been shared internally among Reliance employees; the service is yet to be launched for the public. The LYF smartphone users would be able to avail the above offer only when the services are released. That is, the Reliance Jio SIMs are currently not available.
