Best Upcoming Smartphones of June 2019 – Expected Specs & Features

The majority of smartphone manufacturers have already unveiled their 2019 smartphones. While a few of them are already launched in India, the other devices will be debuting the Indian market in the coming weeks. In the month of June, we also expect to see a few new mid-range smartphone launches. Below is the list of upcoming smartphones which will be launching in June. While a few of them are officially confirmed by their respective companies, the others are just rumored as of now.

OnePlus 7

The OnePlus 7 was officially announced alongside the OnePlus 7 Pro. While the OnePlus 7 Pro is already on sale, the company will be launching the OnePlus 7 on June 4th in India and China. In India, the device will be sold via Amazon.in, OnePlus.in, and select retail chains. It comes with a 6.41″ Optic AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the OnePlus 7 comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform.

The device packs 6GB/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.0 flash storage. On the rear, it comes with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, the OnePlus 7 sports a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor with f/2.0 aperture on the front. It is backed by a 3,700mAh non-removable battery and supports 5V/4A (20W) fast charging. It also features stereo speakers and in-display fingerprint scanner. While the 6GB variant is priced at Rs 32,999, the 8GB RAM variant costs Rs 37,999 in India.

Moto Z4

The Moto Z4 listing on Amazon.com revealed all the details of the device. It is even shipped to those who ordered the device. While the listing is now removed, it might officially launch in the next few weeks. It is priced at $500 and comes with a glossy finish body and aluminum mid-frame. On the front, the device sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and waterdrop notch. It comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, the Moto Z4 is equipped with a single 48MP camera on the rear and a 25MP selfie camera on the front. It is backed by a 3,600mAh non-removable battery and supports 15W TurboPower fast charging technology. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. It is also the first Moto Z smartphone to come with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The P2i nano-coating also makes the device splash-proof. The company is also rumored to launch the Moto Z4 Droid alongside the standard Moto Z4.

Honor 20 & Honor 20 Pro

Honor has already launched the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones in the European markets. The company also scheduled the India launch for June 11th. Both the new Honor flagship smartphones will be sold exclusively via Flipkart in India. Apart from the similar triple camera setup on the rear, both the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones share the same internals. The Honor 20 smartphones come with a 6.26-inch punch-hole display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 91.6% screen to body ratio. Under the hood, both the devices are powered by HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor built on 7nm FinFET node.

While the Honor 20 packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the Honor 20 Pro is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In the camera department, both the Honor 20 smartphones come with a 32MP front-facing selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. On the rear, the Honor 20 sports 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, a 16MP super-wide-angle sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. Coming to quad camera setup on the Honor 20 Pro, the 48MP primary sensor comes with OIS and the depth sensor is replaced with an 8MP telephoto sensor with OIS. The Honor 20 smartphones will be running on Android 9.0 Pie based Magic UI 2.1 out of the box.

ASUS Zenfone 6

Earlier this month, ASUS launched the Zenfone 6 smartphone in Europe. It starts from just EUR 499 and offers flagship grade hardware. The device is also listed on Flipkart as coming soon. We need to wait for few more days to know the exact launch date of the device in India. It comes with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) display with no notch or bezels. However, the display uses IPS panel but comes with 92% screen-to-body ratio. The Zenfone 6 comes powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and is equipped with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage.

In terms of optics, the Zenfone 6 comes with just two sensors on the rear. The company is calling this setup as Flip Camera. It sports 48MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture and 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 125-degree field-of-view. These same cameras can also be flipped to the front for capturing selfies. It is backed by a whopping 5,000mAh battery and also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 technology. The device still sticks with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and now includes stereo speakers. In Europe, the company is offering two years of manufacturer’s warranty.

Samsung Galaxy M40

Samsung has officially confirmed to launch the Galaxy M40 smartphone June 11th in India. The Amazon.in listing also revealed the device to sport Infinity-O display and Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform. Currently, the Redmi Note 7 Pro priced at Rs 13,999 is the cheapest smartphone to feature the 11nm Snapdragon 675 SoC. As per the leaks, the upcoming Galaxy M40 will be priced around Rs 20,000 price range. On the front, it sports an AMOLED display with a camera cut-out on the top left corner. The Galaxy M40 will also be the first ever M-series smartphone to run on the latest Android 9.0 Pie-based One UI out of the box.

As seen on the Galaxy M30, the new Galaxy M40 might also pack a 5,000mAh non-removable battery with 15W fast charging support. On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port. However, it will most probably miss out the 3.5mm audio jack. The company might also opt for the rear-facing fingerprint scanner over the in-display fingerprint scanner. Just like the other Galaxy M smartphones, the Galaxy M40 will also be sold exclusively via Amazon.in in India.

Xiaomi Mi 9T & Mi 9T Pro

Redmi recently launched the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro smartphones with flagship hardware in China. As per the rumors, the same Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro will be launched Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro in the international markets. However, the official teaser image shared by Xiaomi confirms the rumored Mi 9T smartphones to come with a completely different body. It looks more similar to the Mi 9’s plain gradient finish than the Redmi K20’s distinct gradient finish. The teaser image also confirms the device to come with a true bezel-less display with notch or bezels.

Even though the company might have changed the design of the device, we expect the Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro to come with the same specifications as the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro smartphones. While the Redmi 20 came with 8nm Snapdragon 730 Mobile Platform, the Redmi K20 Pro is backed by 7nm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. Both the devices come with 48MP triple camera setup featuring telephoto and ultra-wide-angle sensors. Just the Redmi K20 series, the Mi 9T smartphones will also come with a pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint scanner.

Motorola P50

Motorola recently launched its latest Android One smartphone called Motorola One Vision in Brazil. In China, the company has confirmed to the Motorola P50 smartphone. As per the leaks, the same Motorola One Vision will be launched as Motorola P50 in China. We might get more details about the Motorola P50 in the next few days. As of now, we are expecting the device to come with a 6.3-inch punch-hole display with Full HD+ (2520 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device features Samsung’s Exynos 9609 octa-core processor.

While the Motorola One Vision came with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the Motorola P50 might be available in more storage options. Coming to the cameras, the device sports dual camera setup on the rear featuring 48MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP night vision sensor with f/2.2 aperture. There are also rumors, that the dual rear cameras will be replaced with the triple camera setup. On the front, there is also a 25MP in-screen camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. While the Motorola One Vision Android One smartphone runs on stock Android, the Motorola P50 will be coming custom ZUI skin.

Samsung Galaxy Fold

Samsung was supposed to launch the Galaxy Fold smartphone on April 26th in the US. However, it was later postponed after the tech reviewers publicly showcased the design flaw of the company’s first ever foldable smartphone. While there is no official word on the revised date from Samsung, the US carrier AT&T mentioned the new launch date for Galaxy Fold is June 13th. The Galaxy Fold will be costing $1980 in the US. It comes with a 7.3-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED display with 4.2:3 aspect ratio and a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED cover display with 21:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, it packs 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It runs on the Android 9.0 Pie based OneUI of the box. Also, the device comes with a total of six camera sensors. It is backed by a 4,380mAh battery and supports fast charging and wireless fast charging. There are also AKG-tuned stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. As seen on the Galaxy S10e, the Galaxy Fold also sports a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Finally, we hope the launch doesn’t get further delayed.

Huawei Mate X

At the MWC 2019, Huawei showcased its foldable smartphone Mate X in the glass boxes. It is the world’s first 5G foldable smartphone to be made available in the market. During its announcement, the company mentioned launching the Huawei Mate X in the month of June. Even the recently leaked product roadmap also confirmed the same. However, we are yet to get the exact launch date. It comes powered by 7nm Kirin 980 octa-core processor and is paired with Balong 5000 5G modem. The device packs 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

Unlike Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Huawei Mate X comes with a single out folding display. When unfolded, it sports an 8-inch display with a resolution of 2480×2200 pixels and when folded, it features a 6.6-inch display with 2480×1148 pixels and a 6.38-inch display with 2480×892 pixels. It is backed by a 4,500mAh battery and supports 55W Huawei SuperCharge technology. The device comes with a triple camera setup which can also be used for capturing selfies. When it launches, the Mate X will be costing around $2600.
