ASUS has officially unveiled the Zenfone 6 flagship smartphone at an event held in Valencia, Spain. We have already seen several 2019 flagship smartphones coming with the premium design and an all-screen display. The flagship Zenfone smartphones always came with top-notch hardware and an aggressive price tag. With the Zenfone 6, the company is sticking to the same mantra. Talking about the design, the Zenfone 6 comes with a 3D curved glass body with an aluminum frame.
While the rear of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the front comes with Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The device sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) with no notch or bezels. The ASUS Zenfone 6 could be the only Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone to come with an IPS panel. However, the display offers 600 nits of brightness and comes with 92% screen-to-body ratio. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Zen UI skin on top.
As mentioned earlier, the Zenfone 6 comes powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. The device comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot for further expanding the storage up to 2TB. Coming to the cameras, the Zenfone 6 comes with just two sensors on the rear. The company is calling this setup as Flip Camera.
It sports 48MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture and 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 125-degree field-of-view. These same cameras can also be flipped to the front for capturing selfies. The camera can also record 4K 60fps video with EIS enabled. The Zenfone 6 is backed by a whopping 5,000mAh battery and also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology. The device comes with a triple card slot where the user can add two SIM card and one MicroSD card, all at the same time.
Instead of the in-display fingerprint scanner, the Zenfone 6 sticks with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. On the right, we can find the power button, volume rocker, and all-new smart key. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, FM Radio, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. It also equipped with stereo speakers and supports DTS X Virtual Surround Sound 7.1 technology through headphones.
The device measures 158.94 x 75.58 x 9.6 mm and weighs 195 grams. It will be available in Twilight Silver and Midnight Black color options. Talking about the pricing, the base variant of the Zenfone 6 with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage will be costing EUR 499 (approx USD 560 / INR 39,000). It also comes in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB storage variants priced at EUR 559 and EUR 599 respectively. On top of all these features, the company is also offering two years manufacturers warranty.
