Acer is probably the first to already announce the smartphones at MWC 2015, with a Windows Phone OS based smartphone, as well as a couple Android devices. In the Windows Phone range, this is a low-end device with entry level specs, and Windows Phone 8 OS. The phone is named Acer Liquid M220, and it comes with a 4 inch display, and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
The internal specs as well are no special, as the Liquid M220 comes with a Dual-core processor clocking at 1.2 GHz, and there is 512MB RAM included as well, which as always according to Microsoft, is good enough to work well with Windows Phone OS. Interestingly, the company has also mentioned that the device will be getting the Windows 10 OS update later on. There will be some compromises done here, as Microsoft had mentioned that it won’t be possible to bring all the new OS features with that amount of RAM.
The Acer Liquid M220 has a 5-megapixel rear and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and there is 4GB internal storage, with a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. This device seems to be taking on the low cost Lumia smartphones from Nokia (that are already out in the market) and from Microsoft, especially the Lumia 532, Lumia 435 and such, though we see some clear differences, such as the lower RAM but a better camera combination.
The phone is priced at Euro 79 (which is about $88), and is going to be on sale in Europe, Africa and the Middle East from April 2015.
