HTC, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has just announced a new flagship smartphone, the HTC One M9. The successor to One M8 had already made several appearances in leaks that pointed exactly what is being officially launched now, at least on the hardware part.
Taking the same design standard ahead, HTC has used all-metal strategy but the changes come with a new golden colored side frame, while it is the silver colored with brushed pattern on the back. It is the single unibody design, as said by HTC’s executive during the announcement.
HTC isn’t shifting its flagship device into the phablet category, thus keeps the display to a 5-inch size with the display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. As leaked several times, in leaked promo videos and in the benchmark test results, the HTC One M9 gets the internal power from Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor (Octa-core with four Cortex A53 and four Cortex A57 cores, 64-bit architecture) along with Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
Interestingly, HTC One M8’s rear UltraPixel camera is now shifted to the front, and that should surely assist in low light selfies due to the camera’s sensor. On the back, now, there’s a squarish camera module having a 20-megapixel camera after HTC had received much criticism from the community for the 4MP tag for the primary camera. The rear camera has a f/2.2, 27.8mm lens, and it will now be able to capture 4K videos.
HTC One M9 will have the 5.1 Surround sound, with the Dolby speakers on the front. The HTC connect feature helps control multiple speakers and provide entertainment solutions in syncing and playing wirelessly with gestures. The battery given in the One M9 has 2840 mAh capacity, a good bump from 2600 mAh one in One M8.
The color options available are silver, gunmetal grey, pink and gold.

Just like the company was quick in letting everyone know that they have something in the plans, the enthusiasts were even quicker in leaking every info they could, and even the pictures showing how the device looks like. As beautiful it was already, and now a change in the cameras.

HTC was mocked quite a lot for the use of UltraPixel camera on the back of HTC One M8, though not many would say it did a poor job. Still, the change is finally coming here, as the One M9 supposedly will come with a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back and the UltraPixel camera will be on the front for selfies.
HTC is the earliest to let everyone know that they are surely going to come up with something during the MWC 2015. And what else could that be, if not their next flagship, the HTC One M9? There are a lot of leaks already, and some are definitive, indicating clear things about the upcoming flagship.
While many aren’t expecting any changes to the display resolution (it could still be 1080p), the stuff packed under the hood looks quite interesting with octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU, Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB RAM. With the Geekbench test screenshot leaked, it seems the lower power Cortex A53 cores were running while the test was going on, thus the low score. It does also show that the One M9 is running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS.
One of the major changes expected to be done on the One M9 is with the rear camera, where the 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera is being ditched, and a 20.7-megapixel shooter is going to be included now. HTC is also said to be doing something about the front glass and thus there will be changes even with the Boomsound speakers. What we hear is that the new flagship is going to have a more finer and refined design compared to its predecessor.
If HTC doesn’t go over the current screen size by big number, this should be a plus, and a choice for many who aren’t a fan of large displays for smartphones. Another expected upgrade is a 3500 mAh battery packed in, which is still not confirmed.
HTC has already sent teasers saying they surely have something to show during the MWC 2015 event at Barcelona, and we are as excited as you are, to see what’s coming from them. Stay tuned.
