Acer has just announced a trio of Android based smartphones, all in the budget range, with a list of decent specs and the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. While one phone is the Acer Liquid Jade Z, the other two in the trio are in the Liquid Z series – the Liquid Z220 and Z520. The company has been actively focusing on the budget category, and these phones have been put into the same, except for the Liquid Jade Z.
Read about the Liquid Z series phones after the break. Meanwhile, the company also announced a budget Windows Phone at MWC 2015, the Acer Liquid M220, alongside these Android phones.
Both the smartphones are coming with Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box, and there will be of course the custom UI from Acer layered over it. Acer has included three modes for the different types of users, as the interface will have a Basic Mode for kids, Easy Mode for only the easy functions, and the Standard Mode which shows the actual fully-fledged interface.
According to Acer, the Liquid Z220 and Z520 are all-rounder phones with all that is needed to give the users a good experience. The devices have a 4-inch WVGA display (480 x 800 pixels), and they run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor (1.2 GHz quad-core) with 1GB RAM.
While these two phones have the same 2-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, the software support is said to be helping much with better captures. The Liquid Z220 has a 5-megapixel camera on the back, while the Z520 comes with an 8-megapixel camera on the rear side. The latter also has got the DTS Studio Sound speakers.
Pricing and Availability
- The Acer Liquid Z220 is said to be going on sale first, along side the Liquid Jade Z, in March for the price of €89 (about $100).
- The Acer Liquid Z520 will make an entry later, i.e. in April for a price of €109 (about $122).
For now, we know that the device will be hitting the European markets first, via. the local retailers.
