Xiaomi has confirmed the launched of the Mi Mix 2 in India and has also announced that it will be launched in Delhi on 10th of October. The device will be the successor of the Mi Mix that was launched last year and the Mi Mix 2 was unveiled in China last month. The device is priced at 3299 yuan in China for the 6GB /64GB variant while the 8GB/128GB variant is priced at 4699 yuan. Nothing is known about the Indian pricing yet, which will be revealed on the launch day.
After being in the rumors mills for quite a few months, the Mi MIX 2 is now officially unveiled at an event held in Beijing, China. Along with the Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi also announced the Mi Note 3 smartphone and Mi Notebook Pro laptop. The Mi MIX 2 comes with 7-series aluminum frame and ceramic body. The high-end variant also comes with a gold-plated ring around the rear camera sensor. As rumors suggested, there is no dual camera setup on the rear. The ceramic made power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge.
The ceramic body on the rear is curved on to all the four edges. While the original Mi MIX came with a 6.4-inch display, the Mi MIX 2 sports a slightly smaller 5.99-inch display. It comes with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and offers longer 18:9 aspect ratio. The cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology is now replaced with the physical speaker which is placed under the display. The sound comes out from the sound hole after traveling through the sound tube. It comes powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz and is built on the 10nm FinFET process.
It includes 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and comes in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB UFS 2.1 storage options. On the rear is the 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25um pixel, 5P lens, and 4-axis OIS. Even the Mi Max 2 smartphone also comes with the same IMX386 sensor. Just below the rear camera is the circular fingerprint sensor. The 5MP front facing camera is placed on the bottom bezel and comes with 36 beauty modes. There is also an ultra slim protection case provided for free within the package. The Mi MIX 2 comes with dual SIM card slot and supports 43 Global LTE bands.
Unlike the original Mi MIX, the Mi MIX 2 is missing the 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone is backed by a 3,400mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0 using the 9V/2A (18W) power adapter. It measures 151.8 x 75.5 x 7.7 mm and weighs 185 grams. Coming to the pricing, the base variant of the Mi MIX 2 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at 3299 Yuan (approx $506 / Rs. 32,500) and the other two variants with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage are priced at 3599 Yuan and 3999 Yuan respectively.
There is also Mi MIX 2 special edition smartphone with unibody ceramic body in White color. It packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and is priced at 4699 Yuan (approx $720 / Rs. 46,000). Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
