Samsung Gear Live Smartwatch with Android Wear OS Launched – Available Today

Google just announced the Samsung Gear Live smartwatch, powered by Android Wear OS, at the Google I/O developer conference today. Samsung has its own line of smart watches under the Samsung Gear brand and these were running the Tizen OS, while the new Gear Live which was just announced, is going to run Android Wear, and this is a pretty quick step from Samsung, but not really a surprise as Samsung has been one of the early adopters in everything Android.

The best part about the announcement of the Samsung Gear Live, was the availability. The Samsung Gear Live smartwatch would be available for order today, from the Google Play Store, along with the LG G Watch which too is going to be launched today. For now, the three smartwatches known to us are these two and the Moto 360 watch from Motorola.

Samsung has been playing around with the OS for smartwatches, and last year, the company abandoned Android to use Tizen in the Gear 2. But again, after Google announced the Android Wear OS, Samsung is back to use this OS that promises some excellent experience for the users. And having Wear OS in their smart watch would make integration with Android OS of the smartphone easier, unlike the restrictions that were seen with the Tizen OS in the first two gen. of Gear devices.

With regards to the specifications, these are the official specs – the Samsung Gear Live comes with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, and the screen resolution would be 320×320 pixels while it would come with the IP67 dust and water resistance. There is going to be a 1.2 GHz processor, and the Gear Live will have 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. Having a battery of 300 mAh, the smartwatch is coming with the Android Wear OS with all the features such as Google Now, etc. The official specifications would be updated when the smartwatch would be available later today, on the Google Play Store, along with the LG G Watch.
