Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 Spotted on GFXBench Benchmark Database
Samsung is already gearing up for some launches in the coming days, ahead of the flagship Galaxy S6 launch in the first half of 2015, as we now see the Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 being leaked through the benchmark website GFXBench, after the all-metal Galaxy A7‘s specifications were found through the same source.
Samsung has tasted a good success in the Galaxy Grand series, especially with the first gen. Grand, which back then had no serious competition in that price range. The codename of the device spotted on GFXBench is SM-G7200, and that probably is the Grand 3, though this isn’t yet confirmed.
According to the listing, the device will have a 5.5-inch 720p display, and the internal specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor (64-bit SoC) and 1.5GB RAM. This is quite an advancement from the predecessor, but only on the processor side, because the Grand 2 too had 1.5GB RAM, but it was powered by Snapdragon 400 processor. The GPU support is by Adreno 306 GPU, and the clocking speed of the Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor is 1.2 GHz.
Another improvement we notice, is with the cameras. While the smartphone is going to have a 13-megapixel rear camera with Full HD video recording, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on offer for selfies. Samsung is making sure the device is running the latest software, thus the Grand 3 will be on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. With the 16GB internal storage, the Galaxy Grand 3 is expected to allow MicroSD card storage expansion.
The other details we see, include a Single SIM capability, so a Dual SIM variant might appear later on, just like the Grand Duos and Grand 2 Duos in the past. These specifications look decent enough, except for the RAM, because in the Grand 2, it was only about 850MB available without any apps running in the device.
If Samsung manages to keep the pricing in a good range for the Grand 3, the brand value can still bring in some good response from the customers, because at a price range where Grand 2 is available, several better devices are available now. Expect the Grand 3 to be announced anytime during November 2014.
