Motorola teased the launch of Moto X4 smartphone in India on October 3rd. It is officially unveiled last month at the IFA 2017 event held in Berlin, Germany. We can see the Moto X4 as the successor to the 2015-launched Moto X Style. Today, the company also revealed the Moto X4 Android One edition for $399. As of now, it is available for the Google’s Project Fi customers in the U.S. Though the Moto X4 comes offers close to stock Android UI, the new Moto X4 Android One comes with pure Android UI without even minor customizations. There is no Amazon’s Alexa AI on this Android One edition.

Google confirmed the device to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of this year. The Moto X4 Android One smartphone will also be one of the first devices to receive the next year’s Android P update. Also, it is compatible with the Project Fi network. Talking about the specifications, the Moto X4 Android One edition comes with the same internals as on the original Moto X4. It sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and comes powered by Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The chipset comes coupled with Adreno 508 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

There is 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot. On the rear is the 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup with dual-pixel autofocus and wide-angle lens. For selfies, there is a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and supports TurboPower fast charging technology that can give six hours of usage in just 15 minutes. The Moto X4 is also water and dust resistant, thanks to the IP68 certification. The One Key Navigation button placed beneath the display also comes with a fingerprint sensor.

On the connectivity front, the device comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. The smartphone measures 148.35 x 73.4 x 7.99 mm and weighs 163 grams. On the right edge, we can spot the volume rocker along with power button. The Google Photos on this device comes with unlimited storage in original resolution, same as on Google Pixel smartphones. Recently launched Xiaomi Mi A1 Android One smartphone missed this feature. The Moto X4 Android One smartphone comes in Black & Silver color options and is available for pre-order starting today.
