The much-awaited 4G service of Reliance Jio is likely to get delayed to the end of this year, i.e., December 2016. Well, so far we have seen many stories about the delay of the 4G services and now it’s likely to be confirmed. As per the sources, the company is struggling to stabilize the network and to fix various ‘blind spots’.

Although Jio is reportedly would set new trend after the 4G services launch and so company took it as more the prestigious launch. Up to now, telecom operators are providing the voice service through circuit switching and Jio is likely to offer the voice service through LTE (Long-Term Evolution) (VoLTE). So, this is said to be an existing major challenge for the company.

As per the Bank of America-Merill Lynch, the company has launched the services for its employees in December 2015 and it would like to offer the full-length services to all by December 2016. The company is looking forward to the phased launch from the June 2016 so as to identify and resolve any challenges and. And in the end of the year, large-scale launch will take place after resolving all the issues. The planned purpose of the phased launch is to test the challenges it might face in the 850 MHz band.

The 850 MHz spectrum from RCom is said to be good as it can give more consistent coverage than 1800 MHz or 2300 MHz. Anyhow, the frequent news about the delay will provide some air for other companies like Bharti Airte, Vodafone and Idea Cellular in terms of competition. But this is giving a negative impact for the company in stocks.

Well, the purpose of the 4G launch delay is only to ensure the network quality and customer satisfaction. Already, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular are providing 4G services in 15, 5 and 10 circles respectively. So, we need to see how Jio’s services will compete with these providers as less than 15% of the 4G smartphones in India seem to support 850 MHz band and VoLTE. So, the delay may increase the smartphones support for these services.

The recent launch of LYF Ultra HD Smart LED TV by Reliance proven that it is focusing on the products as well as the trend-setting 4G services for the end-users. So, we need to wait until the end of this year to experience the large-scale 4G services from the Reliance Jio.
