India is widely known as one of the fastest growing smartphone markets all across the globe. To add for this, now OPPO is likely to manufacture 10 lakh odd 4G phones every month at its Noida facility which has already invested Rs. 100 crore. Mike Wang, chief executive of OPPO Mobile India stated that the company is likely to kick-start the manufacturing at Noida facility from the August.
We already had seen the announcement of the same in January and now it has been confirmed. Although the company manufactures the phones at Noida but actual design will be done at China. The sources revealed that, there is no information about the specific models that could get manufactured here but the 4G phones are likely to be priced at Rs 10,000 to Rs. 20,000.
It is observed that, with this new production facility, OPPO may have some alterations with the pact signed with Foxconn, Taiwanese contract manufacturer for OPPO in India. Anyhow, it was confirmed that, it doesn’t have any effect on the Noida Facility as Foxconn would continue its production for OPPO in India at its eight production lines located at Chennai.
Apart from the OPPO, the Xiaomi, Lenovo, Gionee and OnePlus are already in contract with Foxconn and started manufacturing their operations from India. Recently, Lava, Asus and Vivo also announced its startup productions in India to support ‘Make in India’ campaign which is an initiative from the Narendra Modi, Prime minister of India to increase the employment rate.
So, this would be the great news for the unemployed people in India as they are going to see bright future ahead. The smartphone manufacturers are also spying their eyes on the Indian market as with the increase in sales. As of now, the Noida facility is likely to manufacture the devices specifically for the Indian market and in the coming days, it is likely to expand its production for South Asian export markets too.
