Lenovo has announced many devices at IFA 2015 held in Berlin ranging from smartphones to laptops. To fill the space between the smartphones and tablets they announced the Phab Plus super-sized phablet for the users who are looking for the device larger than 6-inch but not the size of large tablets.

Lenovo unveiled the large Phab Plus smartphone last month, but the company has officially launched it at IFA wherein all the details of this massive mid-range smartphone were shown.

Lenovo Phab Plus sports a giant 6.8-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display offering a pixel density of 326ppi and comes powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The device has 2GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage and microSD card support for expansion upto 64GB.

Phab Plus sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling and selfie clicks. The device runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop based Vibe UI. It measure 186.6 x 96.6 x 7.6 mm and weighs around 220 grams. The device will be available in three colors – Gunmetal Gray, Silver Honey, and Grey Titanium.

It comes packed with Li-Ion 3500mAh battery that delivers upto 24 hours of talk time and 350 hours of standby. It offers dual sim dual standby with 4G LTE support along with other basic connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi and microUSB 2.0.

The Lenovo Phab Plus sports an Aluminum unibody design that gives a premium look. Lenovo has also introduced one-hand mode for easy operations that was introduced in Galaxy S smartphones. It has various gestures that downsize the usable area of the device so that you can easily reach everything using your short thumbs. With this massive 6.8-inch display, Lenovo is targeting the customers who are looking for the smartphone that can satisfy their wish of using a smartphone as well as a tablet.

There is also a regular version named Lenovo Phab that comes with a slightly downgraded specifications. It sports a larger 7-inch display but with just 720p resolution. The Lenovo Phab is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage and microSD card support for expansion upto 64GB.

It features the same 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter as on the Phab Plus. The Phab comes with a better battery capacity of 4250mAh. The device runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop based Vibe UI out of the box and has dual sim support with connectivity options like 4G-LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi and microUSB 2.0. Unlike the Phab Plus, Lenovo Phab sports a polycarbonate plastic body and is 8.6mm thick weighing around 250 grams and will be available in colors – Black, White, Red, and Blue.

Lenovo Phab and Phab Plus are priced at  $179 (Rs.11,885) and $299 (Rs.19,853) respectively. The availability of the devices is not yet revealed by the company. The Lenovo Phab Plus sports some decent specs that might compete with other devices in the similar price range, but the size of the device will be the barrier from many users.

Lenovo’s list of gadgets unveiled at the IFA 2015 include updated Thinkpad Yoga 260 and 460 SeriesIdeapad 300/300s/500/500s seriesChromebook 100S, and Smartphones include Vibe S1, Vibe P1, and Vibe P1m. The Vibe S1 is the world’s first smartphone to sport the dual front facing cameras.
