Today, the company is adding a new selfie-focused Redmi Y-series to further strengthen its Redmi portfolio. The Redmi Y1 is the first device to launch under this new series. It is actually the same Redmi Note 5A that was launched a few months back in China. The Redmi Y1 is also the first Xiaomi smartphone to launch in India with the latest MIUI 9.

Talking about the rear camera, it includes a 13MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and LED flash. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 8 out of the box.

With all the specifications, the device is backed by a 3,080mAh non-removable battery and should give decent battery life. It measures 153 x 76.2 x 7.7 mm and weighs 153 grams. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. On the rear, we can also spot the circular fingerprint sensor. On the connectivity front, the device includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.
