Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphones in the budget segment. This year, the company also confirmed to launch a Redmi-branded flagship smartphone. As seen with the budget smartphones, the flagship smartphone from Redmi should also come with an aggressive price tag. Back in December 2018, the company introduced a new sub-brand called POCO (a.k.a POCOPHONE) specifically to offer flagship-level performance in the mid-range segment. The POCO F1 is currently the cheapest smartphone to feature Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform.
Redmi is rumored to launch the Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone with a pop-up camera. However, the company’s general manager recently posted on Weibo confirming there will be no pop-up camera on the flagship Redmi smartphone. Now, a new Redmi smartphone got leaked with a pop-up selfie camera. It comes with the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 Mobile Platform built on Samsung’s 8nm FinFET node. The recently launched Samsung Galaxy A80 with a pop-up rotating camera is the first smartphone to come with this newly announced chipset.
It comes with the powerful Kryo 470 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz and Adreno 618 GPU to look after the graphical performance. Talking about the cameras, the leaked image suggests the device to sport 48MP + 8MP + 13MP triple camera setup on the rear. The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE launched in China also came with the similar triple rear cameras. It will be backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and we hope it provides the fast charging power adapter with the device. On the top edge, we can spot the pop-up selfie camera along with the 3.5mm audio jack and secondary noise-cancelling microphone.
While Redmi is yet to reveal the launch date for its first flagship smartphone, the company is all set to unveil its new selfie-centric smartphone on April 24th in India. The Redmi Y3 is the successor to last year’s Redmi Y2 which came with the Xiaomi’s favorite Snapdragon 625 processor. The teasers already confirmed the Redmi Y3 to come with a waterdrop notch display and 32MP selfie camera. Following the current trend, the company also opted for the glossy finish body instead of the metal unibody design. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphones!
