Samsung’s large screen phablet device category doesn’t limit itself to the Galaxy Note series because two devices showed up under the name Galaxy Mega, and that is now continued as the new Galaxy Mega 2 has showed up on the official Samsung India website, and the price given for it is Rs. 20,900. Samsung hasn’t made any huge announcement for this, and the phablet device with a whooping 6-inch display has made a silent entry into the market through the official website.

Samsung chose to hit the spot between the two sizes the first gen. Galaxy Mega devices had (5.8-inch and 6.3-inch), while the resolution is still the same for the 6-inch Galaxy Mega 2, at 720p. The processor is unspecified, but it is a quad-core processor clocking at 1.2 GHz, and it is coupled with 1.5GB RAM.

The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and there is an inbuilt storage of 8GB with a storage expansion with MicroSD card, to a maximum of 64GB. What the users might not feel impressed about, is the 8-megapixel rear camera, while at this price range, there are now several smartphones with better cameras. Samsung has made sure to keep the users happy with a good front facing 5-megapixel camera.

The device has a big list of pre-installed apps, including Group Play, Story Album, S Health 3.0, S Voice, S Browser, Screen Mirroring, Smart Switch, Ultra Power Saving Mode, and Quick Connect. There is no information whether the device has a Single SIM or Dual SIM support, but it probably will be a Dual SIM one. The other connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, GPS, Glonass, NFC, and Bluetooth.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Mega 2 has a 2800 mAh battery. The device is 8.6mm thick, and it weighs 194 grams. The two colors options available are Cosmic Black and Blizzard White. For now, the availability is seen only for the Indian customers.
