Last year, Xiaomi introduced a new sub-brand called POCO (a.k.a POCOPHONE) to sell smartphones with flagship processor at an affordable price. The base variant of the POCO F1 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage was launched at Rs 20,999. It is also available in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB storage options as well. Though the device comes powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, it has compromised in other aspects to keep the price low.

It comes with a polycarbonate body and an LCD display with screen bleeding issue. Recently, the company announced a permanent price cut on the base variant of the POCO F1 which brought its price down to just Rs 19,999. Today, the company also announced a temporary price cut of Rs 2,000 on the 6GB + 128GB variant. Currently, the POCO F1 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is retailing for Rs 22,999. The same variant will be available for Rs 20,999 from March 25th to 28th.

On the other hand, the 8GB RAM variant of the POCO F1 with 256GB of internal storage will continue to sell at Rs 27,999. The recent OTA update for the device included the Widevine L1 certification and Game Turbo mode. Recently, we have also seen leaks about the Snapdragon 660-powered POCO F1 Lite and Snapdragon 855-powered POCO F2 smartphones. While there is no confirmation over the POCO F1 Lite launch, we can at least expect POCO F2 to hit the market by the end of this year.

In the coming months, Xiaomi will also launch its new sub-brand Black Shark in India. Earlier this week, the company launched the Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. The device with metal and glass back body offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. We could see the Black Shark 2 smartphone ahead of the POCO F2 in the Indian market.
