Lenovo has announced two high-end smartphones at the IFA 2014 event in Berlin, the Lenovo Vibe X2 and Vibe Z2, both having unique features and being different from each other. The Vibe X2 from Lenovo is as the company claims, World’s first layered smartphone and it is the first device to run the new Mediatek MT6595 processor, while the Vibe Z2 is a selfie device (we heard of one already today, the Nokia Lumia 730), with the 8-megapixel front facing camera.

The Vibe X2 comes with a 5-inch 1080p display with the 5-point multitouch, and it is powered by the Octa-core Mediatek MT6595m processor, which has four Cortex-A17 cores and four Cortex A7, and this is the True8Core Soc from Mediatek integrated into the Vibe X2. Apart from that, there is 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage.

Running the Android 4.4 KitKat OS, the Lenovo Vibe X2 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel fixed focus front-facing camera. There is a lot when we talk of connectivity, as the Lenovo Vibe X2 has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and the battery in the device has a capacity of 2300 mAh.

The Asia Pacafic version of this device will support Dual SIM while in the other markets, we would see the Single SIM version. The color options seen are White, Titanium and Gold. Lenovo is going to sell it first in China starting in October, and then in Asia Pacafic, Eastern Europe and Middle East Countries, and the pricing set for the Vibe X2 is US $399.

While it was the screen better in X2, the Vibe Z2 has a 64-bit architecture under the quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor (MSM8916) which clocks at 1.2 GHz, and the display here is a 5.5-inch HD resolution with 600 nit extra brightness. There is 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and there is no option to expand the storage, just like in the X2.

The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat and it also has a 13-megapixel rear camera, but this has Optical Image Stabilization and BSI sensor, alongside the LED flash. Lenovo crowns the Vibe Z2 as the Selfie phone, as it comes with a 8-megapixel front facing camera. The other details include the 3000 mAh battery and the connectivity options which are similar to those in the Lenovo Vibe X2.

The Vibe Z2 will also be available in White, Titanium and Gold color options, and there is only one Dual SIM version of this, which Lenovo is pricing at US $429.

VIBE Xtensions

To make the experience better, Lenovo is introducing two new innovative click-on accessories, known as VIBE Xtensions. These would work with Vibe X2. The Xtensions are VIBE X2 Battery and VIBE X2 speaker.

These are basically the cases which add a fourth layer to the design, where the 5.1mm battery extends the battery life by 75% while the X2 speaker helps in amplifying the phone sound and it comes with a stand for the hands-free use and built-in mic for the group conference calls.
