We’ve received the formal invites, as the Vibe X2 smartphone from Lenovo is going to be officially launched in India, after the announcement at the IFA event in Berlin. The details don’t reveal the information whether the Vibe Z2 with the 64-bit processor is going to make an entry into the Indian market at the same time, but the details about the Vibe X2 are almost confirmed.

What sets the Vibe X2 apart, is the fact that it is a smartphone made with a multi-layered design, and there are additional layers of different colors for the additional functionality, and these layers can be snapped on-to the back of the phone. Digging deeper into these layers, here’s what they can offer – one layer can increase the battery life by up to 75 percent, and another would offer a kickstand and JBL audio for the media.

The internals in the Vibe X2 include an Octa-core Mediatek MT6595m processor (which has four Cortex A17 and four Cortex A7 chips) and as per Mediatek, this is a True8Core Soc. Lenovo has packed 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage into the device. The phone flaunts a 5-inch 1080p display and it has a 13-megapixel rear camera as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat with the Vibe UI 2.0 skin layered over it, and the battery in the phone has a capacity of 2300 mAh. On the connectivity front, we can see 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. While the pricing is not known so far, it was announced for $399 during IFA, thus the pricing is expected to be between Rs. 20000 and Rs. 25000. The pricing is expected no lesser than this, because the predecessor Vibe X has been selling at Rs. 19000 right now. The color options announced for the Vibe X2 were White, Titanium and Gold.

Lenovo has been bringing out some cool smartphones in the recent times, and the recent acquisition of Motorola makes the portfolio even stronger, where combining the sales of both the brands makes it the third in market share, after Samsung and Apple.

Note: It is not confirmed whether it is the Vibe X2, but according to bgr.in, it is the X2 that is going to be launched in India.
