Last October, Honor India has launched its new mid-tier segment smartphone – the Honor 8X in India. Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched the 8X with Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 operating system. Google’s latest Android Pie rollout has already hit some of the Honor devices that include – the Honor 10, and the View 10 recently. Moreover, the company had also announced the rollout earlier to the Honor 8X starting 18th of this month. Well, the update appears to be rolling out as promised to the Honor 8X devices.
First spotted by The Android Soul, the Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0.1 has started rolling out to the Honor 8X devices across India and Asia-Pacific countries. The report suggests users across these countries are receiving these OTA updates of Android Pie to their Honor 8X devices. Further, it also reveals the firmware versions of the respective countries, and as for India, the OTA update bearing 220.127.116.11 (SP52C675E2R1P1) version number has begun to roll out to the consumers. Besides, the update size appears to be quite significant around 3.15GB or so.
The new EMUI 9.0.1 update brings Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie alongside several other noticeable changes. For instance, streamlined efficiency as mentioned in the changelog promises to deliver faster app launches and also old heavy processes are said to be lightning fast with this update. Besides the update also brings intuitive design across the user interface. Huawei Share 3.0 has been rolled out with this update alongside faster transfer speed across devices from to phone to computer or vice versa. The system settings on the Honor 8X devices are said to be simplified as well allowing you to go through them more swiftly and the other noticeable new feature with Android 9.0 update would be the Digital Wellbeing (called Digital Balance in EMUI) feature introduced in Pixel devices last year. It allows you to have a detailed screen time management of your day-to-day usage showing you on which apps you spend the time the most and so on.
Well, these are few of the noticeable new features on the Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0.1 on the Honor 8X smartphone. Since the rollout has begun momentarily, your Honor 8X device should get the OTA update soon. Head over to system settings and navigate to a software update to keep checking for the OTA and bear in mind since this is a substantial update we recommend you to have the battery percentage of your Honor 8X device at least of up to 50% and make sure to be connected to a reliable Wi-Fi as well.
