Honor 20 with Quad Rear Cameras Including Periscope Zoom Camera Leaked

Earlier this week, Honor has officially confirmed to unveil the Honor 20 series on May 21st in London. The company is rumored to launch the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones on that day. The Honor 20 smartphones with the model numbers YAL-AL00 and YAL-TL00 are already spotted on the Chinese 3C certification website. Today, the press render of the device was leaked on the Weibo. As seen above, it only shows the rear view of the device. It will be coming with a 3D curved glass back body featuring quad camera setup.

Even the teaser image posted on Honor’s social media handles gave importance to the number 4. There is a vertically-placed Honor logo at the bottom left corner. While the device name is not mentioned, we expect this to be Honor 20 Pro and not the standard Honor 20. Talking about the camera setup, it looks similar to the quad camera setup on the Huawei P30 Pro. However, all the four camera sensors including the ToF 3D sensor is also placed on the vertical camera module. The top sensor on the device is the periscope-style telephoto sensor which might offer same 5X optical zoom as seen on the Huawei P30 Pro.

Since the Leica partnership is not extended to Honor smartphones, the cameras on the Honor 20 Pro might not performance same as on the Huawei P30 Pro, particularly in the low-light conditions. We expect the Honor 20 Pro to use the 48MP Sony sensor as its primary camera. The Honor View 20 launched in December 2018 is the world’s first smartphone to use the Sony IMX586 sensor. Also, the Honor 20 Pro should be able to offer 120-degree wide-angle view. As of now, there is not much technical information available about the quad camera setup on the Honor 20 lineup.

The 3C listing confirmed the devices to come with 22.5W fast charging support, same as the Huawei P30. Under the hood, these upcoming flagship devices will come powered by the 7nm Kirin 980 octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G76 GPU and dual NPU. This is the same chipset that also powers the Honor View 2 and Honor Magic 2 smartphones. Based on the earlier leaks, the Honor 20 smartphones will be featuring 32MP selfie camera on the front. The device will be running on the Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with the latest EMUI 9.0 skin on the top. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
