Cyanogen OS 12 Update

The Lollipop OS update, much awaited for the OnePlus One users is finally here. It is the new CyanogenMod OS version, i.e. the Cyanogen OS 12 arriving today as promised by OnePlus founder Carl Pei on Twitter. Interestingly, this update is available for all the OnePlus One devices, including the ones in India.

What’s new? several changes are in here, but most importantly, there is Android 5.0 Lollipop with Material design and the ART Runtime as implemented as well. All the details of material design, including visual, motion and interaction design are taken into account while bringing about changes in the OS.

New theme features including free and paid themes to download from, is possible at the App Themer section, and this like before, is allowing to make changes to not just the background and icons, but much more. The paid themes can be purchased using the Google Play account, so the users don’t need to have another account with payment options set up again.

The new Cyanogen email, powered by Boxer, is also a part of the new OS. It is the premium version of Boxer that is integrated as a free email application in Cyanogen OS 12, and it has the Exchange support, multiple account integration as well as canned responses (helping in quick replies). If the customization wasn’t enough in the OS itself, the Cyanogen email has a LED customizer to choose the colors for email notifications, and lets the user choose what happens when swiping right/left on the email.

The rollout begins today, and while that being said, Cyanogen team also indicated that the Yu Yureka will be receiving the same Cyanogen OS 12 update anytime soon.
