As expected earlier, today Honor launched its latest high-end smartphone, Honor 8 Pro in Europe. The company also launched the mid-range Honor 6C alongside the Honor 8 Pro. In December last year, Huawei launched the Enjoy 6S smartphone in China and now it is rebranded as Honor 6C in Europe. Just like the Honor 6X, the Honor 6C also comes with a 2.5D curved glass on the front and sports a unibody metal design. While the Honor 6X came with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, the new Honor 6C packs a smaller 5-inch display with just HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution.

The device is powered by 1.4GHz Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It also includes 3GB of RAM and offers seamless multitasking. Though the storage is limited to just 16GB, the user can additionally expand it up to 128GB using the MicroSD card slot. There is a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. While none of the dual camera smartphones from Honor have a camera bump, the Honor 6C measuring 7.6mm thickness has a protruding rear camera.

It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with the customized EMUI 4.1 laid on top. On the rear, there is also a fingerprint sensor with gesture support. It can be used as a shutter button in the camera app. The device will start retailing from the end of this month for €229 (approx $245 / Rs. 16,000). It will be available in Gold, Silver, and Gray color options. On the other hand, a new mid-range smartphone named Huawei Y5 2017 is spotted on the company’s official website. It comes with a polycarbonate shell and packs slightly less powerful specifications.

While the Y5 2017 is yet to be officially launched, we don’t expect to see much difference in the pricing. As of now, there is no information about the latest ANdroid 7.0 Nougat update for the Honor 6C. The Honor 6X launched in January this year has received the Android 7.0 Nougat based EMIU 5.0 update in March. Though there is no official confirmation, we expect the Honor 6C to soon receive the EMUI 5.0 update. With the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update, these devices get the splitwise multitasking, new animations, bundled notifications, new settings UI, and more.
