Huawei Y5 2017 Smartphone with 5″ HD display & 3000mAh Battery Listed Online

Apart from the Leica branded P10 and P10 Plus smartphones, Huawei also launched quite a few budget smartphones in 2017. Now a new device called Huawei Y5 2017 is listed on the company’s official website. It is the successor to the last year’s Huawei Y5 II (a.k.a Y5 2016) and comes with the same design featuring chrome finished frame and a polycarbonate back body. The textured body on the rear gives a nice grip to hold on to the devices. We expect the company will soon launch the device and it will be available in Gold, Pink, Blue, White, and Gray color options.

It comes with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by 1.4GHz MediaTek MT6737T quad-core processor. As seen on the other budget smartphones, the Y5 2017 also packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with the EMUI 4.1 laid on top. In the camera department, there is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. It sports a 5MP front camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens for capturing selfies. Both the cameras have LED flash for capturing photos and videos even in low-light conditions.

The device is powered on by a 3,000mAh battery and might support 5V/2A fast charging. It also comes with a smart power-saving technology that further increase the battery life by optimizing the performance. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It also a sports bunch sensors including Accelerometer, Proximity, Compass, and Ambient light sensor. It measures 143.8 x 72 x 8.35 mm and weighs 150 grams.

Apart from the power button and volume rocker on the right edge, there is also an additional hardware button on the left edge called as ‘Easy Key.’ It supports simple click, double click, and press-and-hold gesture system for creating shortcuts for different tasks and apps. While the other Chinese brands are offering fingerprint sensor with most fo their affordable devices, Huawei chooses to skip it on the Y5 2017.
