HTC Desire 820

HTC has officially unveiled the HTC Desire 820 along with two other smartphones in the Indian market, today at an official event. While the Desire 820 comes with an octa-core CPU, the other variant Desire 820q has a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, and both the devices come with 4G LTE Cat 4 connectivity.

Targeting the consumers who love large screens, HTC has released these devices with no differences in the external aspect and only the processor is different in them. Both the smartphones come with a 5.5-inch 720p HD display and they have the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. While the Desire 820 comes with 2GB RAM, there’s just 1GB RAM in the Desire 820q. The internal storage in both the devices is 16GB and the storage is expandable with MicroSD card, and the smartphones run Android 4.4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense 6 UI.

HTC has placed a 13MP camera on the rear side and 8MP one on the front for both Desire 820 and Desire 820q. The pricing details will be updated soon. We are tipped that the Desire 820 will be available from November 1st / 2nd (Thanks Shimon!)

A quick search on Zauba, the home to India’s import and export data, reveals 20 units each of HTC A50 and A51 have been imported to Delhi. Moreover, HTC is holding an event in Delhi tomorrow.

“Witness the unveiling of HTC’s new offering with an added touch of bollywood glamour…”

Coincidence much? Well, HTC A50 turns out to be HTC Desire 820 LTE-A while A51 is just a variant of the aforementioned (no brainer). Running through the info provided by Zauba regarding these imports, it’s a dual sim device sporting a 5.5 inch display while the price being Rs. 12,101 and Rs. 13,336 for A50 and A51 respectively. Of course these won’t be the actual prices, but considering HTC Desire 816’s pricing at Rs. 22,000 (approx), I don’t expect this to be priced lower than that considering it’s upgraded specs. Still, HTC could surprise us if they wish to, in the market right now where pricing has been really different from what we have been seeing in the past.

It’s really great how HTC India has managed to bring HTC Desire 820 in India so fast, especially after the several devices from them that have been making their entry quite late into the Indian market, after being released in other markets. All that remains to be seen is how aptly it is priced and how well it performs. Stay tuned for more updates.

  • If the price would be around 20k or less than it would be a tough competition with Xiaomi. Go HTC go…

    • samir naik

it wont be around 20k must be around 35k

      • Suraj Racharla

i think 35 k is too much. You can buy a really good phone for that price!!

    • Suraj Racharla

yes it would be great but it is a 5.5 inch device so i would go with around 25-30kk Over that it is flagship phones price and this is not a flagship but mid range!!

  • samir naik

    this should be affordable one

    • Suraj Racharla

yes it is a mid range device. The device wont be like really cheap but it will be at affordable price. The phone delivers alot under the mid range price tag!!

  • coupontammy

I have to admit that I also like it bigger screen. It makes it easy to read and work on.

    • samir naik

    • Suraj Racharla

Yes a bigger screen means bigger thinking and easier to read and overall work on!! True statement what you said!!

  • balaji

does it has gorilla glass 3???

    • Suraj Racharla

I dont really know about that but if it did that would be amazing. The ultimate protection for your device!!!

  • Shanky Yadav Jungly

This is made perfectly for midrangers but i want to know about cpu please make a review on this

  • HTC is really focused on mid range phones nowadays. But I hope they put in more innovation with their flagship. I love HTC and been using HTC since I switched to Android, but they are lacking recently with their flagships.

    • Suraj Racharla

Yes i also think there flagships are lacking because compared to Samsung they dont have as much features and the overall device doesnt look unique when compared to Samsungs metal edge design. But its nice to see HTC making their way into the midrange section of the smartphone world!!

  • Joshua Akinsola

They need to put in a frontrunner galaxy esque competitor

  • Suraj Racharla

For people who want 5.5 inch phones and want a mid range price you have met your requirements!!
