HTC, the brand that was regarded as one of those which sells its devices at sky-high prices, has brought in some surprises this time, with the new HTC One M8 Eye smartphone being launched in India for the price of Rs. 38,990. The original M8 was launched for a price of Rs. 49900, while HTC decided to replace the 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera of the HTC One M8 with a 13-megapixel shooter in the Eye.

Nothing else is different in the One M8 Eye, except for the rear camera because this has the same 5-megapixel shooter on the front. The Desire Eye smartphone that was recently announced, has a 13-megapixel front facing camera.

The One M8 Eye has a 5-inch 1080p display on the front, and internally, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (clocking at 2.5 GHz) along with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB RAM. The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat with the HTC Sense 6 UI layered over it, and while HTC promised Android Lollipop update for the One M8 and M7, the update rollout to the One M8 Eye is almost confirmed as well.

On the camera front, the device has a 13-megapixel camera on the rear side with dual LED Flash, f/2.0, 28mm lens and there is a secondary camera as well on the rear side, to capture the depth information.

The One M8 Eye has 16GB internal storage, and users can expand the storage to 128GB using a MicroSD card. The device has a 2600 mAh battery, and a plethora of connectivity options – 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n (2.4 and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with GLONASS.

HTC is making the One M8 Eye available with Gunmetal Gray and Glacial Silver color options, and the price set for it is Rs. 38,990 with a single storage variant. It will be available from Oct 18th, across both online and offline retail stores.
