Gionee W909 Clamshell Phone with 4GB RAM & Fingerprint Sensor to Launch on March 29

In February, we had exclusively reported about a new clamshell phone from Gionee that was listed on TENAA. The Gionee W909 will be the successor for Gionee W900S that was recently made available in China. Now the company has sent out the press invites for the launch of a clamshell phone scheduled on March 29th. While the Gionee W900S also comes with high-end specifications, but the W909 will include a fingerprint sensor. It is also the first clamshell phone to offer a fingerprint sensor.

Samsung also launched a clamshell phone Samsung W2016 in November last year with high-end specifications but like dual displays, 3GB RAM, and 64GB of storage. Now the Gionee W909 is expected to come with dual displays with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the W909 comes powered by Helio P10 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.There is a MicroSD card slot for expanding additionally upto 128GB.

It comes with dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity. The device packs a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. It measures 124.6 x 62.5 x 16.4 mm and weighs around 210 grams. As of now we don’t have any information regarding the battery capacity. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with customized Amigo 3.1 UI overlaid. The Gionee W900S with 3GB RAM is currently retailing at 3,599 Yuan and upcoming W909 is expected to be priced at 4,000 Yuan.

The W900S came with 4-inch dual displays with 800 x 480 pixels resolution and 32GB of inbuilt storage. Both the devices come with same 13MP + 5MP set of cameras. While the official pricing and confirmed specifications are still unknown, stay tuned more updates in the coming days.
