Xiaomi to Launch Snapdragon 845-powered Smartphone in India



Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX 2S smartphone in China. It is the company’s first smartphone to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. Recently, the company also launched its 2018 flagship smartphone called Mi 8 powered by the same Snapdragon 845 chipset. Now, the latest news suggests the company might actually yet another Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone in the coming weeks.

As of now, there is no information about the name of this new smartphone. Based on the leaks, the device was spotted with the codenames Beryllium and Beryllium global in the March’s MIUI firmware. According to the source, the traces for the India-specific launch was found twice in the code. The device is said to sport dual cameras on the rear and will run on Android 8.1 Oreo.

While the Mi 8 came with the notch display, the upcoming smartphone for the Indian market is also said to sport notch display. In the second half of this year, the company will also launch the Mi MIX 3 smartphone. It is leaked to come with 18:9 display and pop-up camera. The Mi MIX 2 was the last flagship Xiaomi smartphone to launch in India. While the company skipped launching the Mi MIX 2S in India, we might soon see the Mi MIX 3 launch.

Talking about the Xiaomi Mi 8, the device comes with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) display with a notch on the top. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. In the camera department, the Mi 8 sports dual AI rear cameras featuring 20MP & 16MP sensors. For selfies, there will be a 16MP single camera on the front.

It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI out of the box. Alongside the Mi 8, the company also launched the Mi 8 SE in China. The Mi 8 SE is the worlds first smartphone to use the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
