Last month, Xiaomi launched the flagship smartphones – Mi 9 and Mi 9 Explorer Edition in China. It even showcased these smartphones at the recently concluded MWC 2019 in Barcelona. At CNY 2999, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is the most affordable smartphone to come powered by the powerful 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. While the specifications of the device look great, the company seems to have compromised on the quality control.
According to one of the Mi 9 users in China, the company has shipped a branded new Mi 9 smartphone without the LED flash on the rear. Not just the LED flash, but also the cut out for the LED flash is also missing on the device. The company seems to have got in touch with the user on Weibo to replace the device for free. As of now, there is no information about any other users receiving Mi 9 without the LED flash. While the Redmi smartphones are quite popular in several markets across Asia, the company is continuously failing to sell premium smartphones.
Recently, the company started selling affordable smartphones separately under the Redmi branding and high-end smartphones under the Mi branding. In India, the company has launched only the Mi MIX 2 flagship smartphone after the Mi 5 launch in 2016.
