Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7S in the Indian market. It is mentioned to replace the Redmi Note 7 which is already available via open sale. Today, the company also announced the new Redmi Note 7S to go on open sale starting today. However, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is still sold via weekly flash sales on Flipkart and Mi.com. The Redmi Note 7S is the most affordable smartphone to come with a 48MP camera. Unlike the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the Redmi Note 7S uses 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor.
It is the same Redmi Note 7 which was launched in China in January this year. The device comes in 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB storage variants and costs Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. Apart from the dual camera setup, the Redmi Note 7 (Indian variant) and Redmi Note 7S comes with the same specifications. It comes with a glossy finish body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back. It sports a 6.3-inch waterdrop notch display with Full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood, the device comes powered by 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 260 CPU and Adreno 512 GPU. In the camera department, the Redmi Note 7S sports 48MP + 5MP dual cameras on the rear and a 13MP single camera on the front. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and comes with 5V/2A (10W) power adapter for charging. The device comes with a circular fingerprint scanner on the rear and also supports face unlock using the front camera.
It runs on Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. However, it comes with a hybrid SIM card slot where the users have to choose between the secondary SIM and the MicroSD card. The Redmi Note 7S comes with a P2i nano-coating which make the device splash resistant.
