Xiaomi already launched the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphones in India. However, it only launched the Redmi Note 7 in China. Unlike the Indian Redmi Note 7, the Chinese Redmi Note 7 comes with a 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor. The company recently confirmed to launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro in China on March 18th. Today, Lei Jun, Founder and CEO of Xiaomi, also hinted to launch a new Redmi smartphone alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro on March 18th.

While there is no official confirmation, the company might launch Redmi 7 on that day. The Redmi 7 recently got certified by TENAA in China and the company also started teasing about the device. In terms of design, the Redmi 7 looks very much similar to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The base variant of the Redmi 7 is also said to be priced at CNY 700 or CNY 800. It comes with the gradient finish glossy polycarbonate body with curved edges.

It will be coming with a 6.26-inch IPS display with HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) resolution and waterdrop notch. While there is no information about the processor, the device will be launched in 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB RAM variants. In terms of optics, the Redmi 7 sports 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup on the rear and an 8MP single camera on the front for selfies. We can also spot the fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device. It will be running n Android 9.0  Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box.

The Redmi 7 will be backed by a 4,000mAh battery which should easily last more than a day of usage. It is also said to sport the IR Blaster for controlling smart devices with the smartphone itself. While it is expected to be launched on March 18th in China, we have no idea about the India launch date. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
