While we are seeing several leaks about the Mi 8 Youth, the company has teased the device through a Weibo post yesterday. Today, the company has officially confirmed few details along with the pricing and launch date. Firstly, the base variant of the Mi 8 Youth will be costing 1999 Yuan (approx $290 / Rs 20,999) in China. As we reported earlier, the company has sold its first ever smartphone Xiaomi Mi 1 (a.k.a Xiaomi Phone) for 1999 Yuan in 2011.
With the Mi 8 Youth, the company seems to sell the best ‘value for money’ smartphone with the same price tag. The device will be launched on September 19th in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in China. Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched the Mi 8 Explorer Edition with an in-display fingerprint sensor. While we first saw the in-display fingerprint sensor on Vivo smartphones, nowadays other smartphone vendors have started adopting this new technology.
Even the upcoming OnePlus 6T is also confirmed to sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. While the base variant of the Mi 8 Youth sports rear-facing fingerprint sensor, the leaks suggest the high-end variant to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. Talking about the other specifications, the device sports a 6.26-inch notch display with Full HD+ resolution. It comes with a 3,250mAh battery that should also support Quick Charge technology.
The specifications of the device are similar to the what the company has offered with the Mi 8 SE. The company has launched the Mi 8 SE alongside the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The device comes in different storage variant and the pricing starts from 1799 Yuan. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
