Xiaomi Confirmed to Launch Redmi Note 5A on August 21st in China

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A has been in the leaks from last few months. Earlier this week, the device is also listed on TENAA revealing the specifications and the first look of the device. Now, the company has officially confirmed the launch of Redmi Note 5A in CHina but hasn’t revealed any other details. The teaser posted on Weibo confirmed the device to launch on August 21st in China. We expect to see two variants of Redmi Note 5A with and without fingerprint sensor.

Based on the leaks, the 3GB RAM variant with fingerprint sensor will be priced at 899 Yuan while the 4GB RAM variant with fingerprint sensor will cost 1199 Yuan. While the Redmi Note 4 came with Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, the upcoming Redmi Note 5A will be powered by Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. Even the battery capacity is decreased from 4,100mAh capacity to 3,000mAh capacity.

Earlier: August 15th, 2017 – The Redmi Note 4 is one of the popular smartphones to launch in the first half of 2017. According to the Xiaomi India, it has sold more than 5 million Redmi Note 4 devices alone in India. Now, the company is getting ready to unveil its successor with an even more affordable price tag. The Redmi Note 5A has been in the leaks for the last few weeks. Now, the devices listed on TENAA with the model numbers MDT6 and MDE6 are expected to be rumored the Redmi Note 5A smartphone.

With the Redmi Note 5A, the company seems to offer the smartphone with a bigger display at a much more affordable price. While the Redmi Note 4 is launched at Rs. 9,999 / 999 Yuan, the upcoming Redmi Note 5A will start retailing at even lower price. It sports a metal body with curved edges on the rear. On the front is a 5.5-inch display offering HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the device includes the 64-bit Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 308 GPU.

There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via a dedicated MicroSD card slot. It runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box but comes with MIUI 8.5.1 instead of MIUI 9. In the camera department, there is a 13MP sensor on the rear with LED flash and a 5MP sensor on the front for selfies. It bears a triple-slot tray that can hold two SIM card and a MicroSD card. With the infrared sensor on the top edge, the device can be used to control the home electronics.

While the Redmi N0te 4 with the 5.5-inch display came with 4,100mAh battery, the upcoming Redmi Note 5A offers a smaller 3,000mAh battery. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE connectivity. The device measures 153.3 x 76.3 x 7.31 and weighs 150.23 grams. There is also a high-end variant with the model numbers MDT6S and MDE6S. While the design remains same as the MDT6 and MDE6, the high-end MDT6S and MDE6S devices feature a fingerprint sensor on the rear.

 

They also offer 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Even the cameras are upgraded to 16MP and 13MP sensors on the rear and front of the device. The MDT6S and MDE6S variants also offer LED flash on the front for better selfies. Rest of the device specifications remain same on all the four variants.
