The Chinese smartphone maker, Vivo has sent out the ‘Save the date’ invites for the launch of a new smartphone in September. From the image, we expect the device to come with a metal body in Matte Black color. As of now, there is no information about the specifications of the device. Looking at the design, we expect it to be a mid-range Y-series smartphone. This new launch comes when the company’s sales are going down. The latest report suggests around 30% drop in sales of OPPO and Vivo mobiles for the month of July.

During the same time, the overall smartphone market in the country has grown by 8 percent. Last year, OPPO and Vivo are the fast growing smartphone brands in the world. Both the companies had invested heavily in India and bagged major local and international sponsorship deals. Recently, the company also slashed the price of its flagship V5 Plus smartphone in India. While the device was launched at Rs. 27,990, it is now retailing at Rs. 22,990 on Flipkart. It is available in Gold and Matte Black color options.

Vivo also launched the Vivo Y55S in Matte Black in few Asian markets. It is an upgraded variant of the last year’s Vivo Y55L. The Vivo Y55s sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and a 2.5D curved glass on the top. It is powered by a Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with 3GB of RAM. It includes 16GB of onboard storage that can be expandable up to another 256GB via a dedicated MicroSD card slot. However, it still runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based FunTouch OS 3.0.

In the camera department, there is a 13MP shooter on the rear and a 5MP shooter on the front for selfies. The smartphone is backed by a 2730mAh battery and comes with dual SIM dual standby support. It comes with unibody design and features capacitive navigation buttons. At this price, the device lacks the fingerprint sensor to make the device secure. Talking about the upcoming Vivo smartphone, we should be getting more information in the coming days. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
