Vivo Confirmed to Launch iQOO 5G Smartphone in Q3 2019

At the MWC Shanghai, Vivo announced the 120W fast charging technology called Super FlashCharge 120W. Finally, the company also about its plans for 5G. Earlier this year, Vivo launched the APEX 2019 concept smartphone with 5G connectivity. However, there is not even a single 5G smartphone in its current portfolio. On the other hand, Chinese brands like Xiaomi and OPPO are already selling 5G smartphones. Vivo has officially confirmed to launch its first 5G smartphone in Q3 2019.

The company revealed the front view of the device but didn’t share any other details. The teased 5G smartphone looks exactly similar to the Vivo iQOO smartphone launched at the beginning of this year. Even iQOO weibo handle posted saying the iQOO 5G is launching in next quarter. Just like other Chinese brands, Vivo might also launch the same iQOO smartphone as iQOO 5G by adding a 5G modem. Vivo iQOO is one best selling Snapdragon 855-powered smartphones in China.

It is more targeted towards smartphone gamers with virtual triggers and liquid cooling technology. While there is no official confirmation, both the Vivo iQOO and iQOO 5G might share the same specifications. Earlier today, the company also launched the Vivo iQOO in all-new feather white color options. It comes with a 6.41-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie based Funtouch OS 9 out of the box.

The device comes powered by 7nm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and offers up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The Vivo iQOO is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and supports 44W super fast charging. In terms of optics, the Vivo iQOO sports triple camera set up on the rear featuring 12MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.

On the front, there is a 12MP camera with  f/2.0 aperture for selfies. The device comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and also supports face unlock using the front camera. It measures 157.69 × 75.2 × 8.51mm and weighs 196 grams. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS NFC, and USB Type-C port.
