Verizon Launches Palm with small 3.3” HD Display & Android 8.1

Well, most of you might have heard about Palm which was shut down in 2011. Now Palm has made a come back with a new smartphone which is the new “ultra-mobile” has more functions to perform than a smartwatch and is also more compact than the regular sized smartphone. This new device is pretty tiny that goes easily into the pockets and weighs just 62.5 grams! The Palm Inc was first to introduce personal digital assistant (PDA) device called as the Palm Pilot in 1990.

The Palm Ventures Group acquired the rights to the Palm trademark from TCL which was bought by them in 2014 from HP. Miloseski and Nuk are the founders of this company who also announced that they are not going to bring back the PDA device and instead will be concentrating on re-inventing Palm with roots in mobile innovation. NBA star Stephen Curry is an adviser to the company on marketing, usability and social strategy and TCL is an investor for Palm. He is also the brand ambassador for the company and will be wearing the device during warmup games and workout sessions.

You might be wondering why do I need this phone when I have a regular one? In that case, this device is easy to carry along while you are on a track, or in the gym or even while going for a walk with your dog. This device works exactly like a smartphone but docent act as your primary smartphone. The Palm is Verizon exclusive and you need to be on an existing plan from Verizon to get this device which will be costing you an additional $10 every month.

This device must be linked to the existing Verizon Wireless account and then it can share all the phone numbers. The device comes in an aluminum frame and with the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The device comes with Snapdragon 435 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. There is an 800mAh battery packed into the device which is claimed to be lasting 8 hours on a single charge. There is also a feature called Life Mode that can extend the battery life by a bit.

Moreover, the Palm comes with Android 8.1 operating out of the box and the company has also created a custom skin that can directly take its users to the app tray. The phone is IP68 rated for water resistance and comes with 3.3-inch HD LCD display giving 445-ppi. There is also 12MP rear camera along with an 8MP camera on the front. There is a virtual button on the bottom of the device that lets its user go back if pressed once, will go to the home if pressed twice and log press can take them to multitasking screen.

There is a feature added to this device, called Life mode, which turns on the do not disturb mode on the device and the user won’t be receiving call or notifications. This mode also extends the battery life of the Palm device to an entire day. This tiny device will be charging you $349 and also should be an existing customer of Verizon! Will you get this device?
