Xiaomi already launched two Snapdragon 855-powered smartphones in China – Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi MIX 3 5G. The company also teased to launch a Redmi-branded smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855 in the coming months. While the rumors suggested it come with a pop-up selfie camera, Redmi’s GM recently denied the rumors. According to XDA Developers, Xiaomi is actually working not one but two flagship smartphones with pop-up selfie cameras. There are few leaked photos on the internet showing an unknown Mi smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera. Since these photos come from untrusted sources, we can’t take them for granted as of now.
Also, these smartphones will be launched under the Mi series and not Redmi series. Both these upcoming devices are spotted with the code names Davinci and Raphael. We also expect them to feature the latest 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. As the company is also working on MIUI software versions with the code names Raphaelin and Davinciin, we got some sort of evidence about these two flagship devices getting launched in India. The Xioami Mi MIX 2 launched in October 2017 is the company’s last flagship for the Indian market. However, Xiaomi introduced a new sub-brand called POCO (a.k.a POCOPHONE) to offer a flagship-grade performance at a very affordable price.
The POCO F1 launched in India is the most affordable smartphone to come powered by the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. Unlike the Mi MIX 3 which came with a slider mechanism, both these upcoming smartphones will sport motorized pop-up selfie cameras. Since we have seen mid-range smartphones like OPPO F11 Pro and Vivo V15 Pro coming with pop-up selfie cameras, one of these newly spotted smartphones could be launched as POCO F2 in India. Even the Mi 9 powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset is available for as low as CNY 2999 (approx USD 450 / INR 31,000) in China. As the POCO F2 will make a lot of sacrifices in the other segments, it should be priced well below the Mi 9 price tag.
There are also chances that these rumored devices could be launched Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 or Mi 9 Pro. While Xiaomi smartphones are quite popular among the budget users, not many users are showing interest in their premium devices. Apart from the ads-filled MIUI, Mi branding could also be one of the main reasons. Talking about these newly leaked Xiaomi smartphones, we need to wait at least for a few more weeks to get more details. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for the latest updates about the upcoming smartphones!
