The 2015 has seen a major growth in popularity of sub-brands and there even more new sub-brands announced. The Honor and YU have seen a major success in 2015, where the Honor is the sub-brand of Huawei, YU is the sister brand of Micromax. The Axon by ZTE is the new entrant that was first debuted in the U.S and was later launched in China and the European countries.
Apart from YU, XOLO is the another Indian manufacturer that had launched its own sub-brand called Black and now Spice had announced a new international brand called Nexian. The first device to be launched under this new brand is the Nexian NV-45 that will be exlcuively sold through Flipkart. While this the first launch for Nexian in India, Spice had launched the Nexian branded Android One smartphone called Nexian Journey One earlier this year in Indonesia.
Commenting on the launch, Amandeep Singh, CEO, Spice Mobiles said,
“India has the world’s largest youth population who are forever seeking great technology products at pocket friendly prices. Catering to this need of young consumers, we are pleased to launch the internationally successful smartphone brand Nexian in India, which will be exclusively available online on Flipkart for our young consumers. Nexian combines high utility functions with a great aesthetic finish to deliver a memorable product experience.”
Recently the companies are more focusing on launching smartphones under Rs. 5,000 price range. Lenovo had launched the A2010 and YU Televentures came up with Yunique that offers 4G LTE . While the Nexian NV-45 is priced much lower at Rs. 3,799; we cannot expect lag-free Android experience on this device. It sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with Dragontrail Glass protection on top of it.
The device supports dual SIM dual standby and the lacks the 4G LTE connectivity. It also runs on the outdated Android 4.4.2 Kitlat. It is powered by Spreadtrum SPRD7731 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. There is 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot that can accept up to 32GB. Connectivity options on this device include 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, MicroUSB 2.0 port.
On the camera front, it has a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus and a 3.2MP front-facing camera for selfies. The 1,650mAh removable battery on this device can give up to 7 hours of talk time and lasts up to 250 hours on standby. It weighs 141 grams and feels bulky measuring 10.6 mm thickness.
