ZTE Axon Max with 6″ Display & Snapdragon 617 SoC Launched in China
Earlier this ZTE had debuted the Axon brand in the US by launching the Axon smartphone. After that, there are many other devices have launched under the Axon branding like Axon Mini, Axon Pro, Axon Elite and few others. Now a new phablet with a 6-inch display is added to the Axon line-up of devices. The ZTE Axon Max is the latest smartphone that was officially announced today in China.
Commenting on the launch, Adam Zeng, CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices, said,
“Our flagship series is the core of ZTE’s strategy. The AXON MAX may be the final building block of this bold line of devices, but it is really just the next step in what we believe will be a far-reaching dynasty of premium products with vision for what tomorrow’s users need.”
As seen with the earlier Axon devices, the Axon Max also comes with a premium metal body featuring Aluminum Titanium alloy. The back of the device almost looks similar to the Huawei Mate 8. It comes with a 6-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution and 2.5D curved glass laid on top of it. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 617 MSM8952 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
There is 32GB of internal storage out of which only 20GB is available to the end user, but it includes a MicroSD card slot for expanding up to a maximum of 128GB. This dual SIM device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with MiFavor 3.5 UI overlaid. The USP of the device is the camera on Axon Max; it has a 16MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) that helps in focusing in just 0.1 seconds.
On the front, it has a 13MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and built-in beauty modes that can capture more than decent selfies. The fingerprint sensor placed on the rear of the device makes the Axon Max even more secure. It is backed by a massive 4,140mAh battery that gives up to 23 hours of talk time and lasts up to 318 hours on standby. The device also supports Quick Charge 2.0 that can charge from 0-60% in just 30 minutes.
Connectivity on this device includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and USB Type-C port. The device supports Cat 4 LTE that offers speeds up to 300 Mbps. For providing Hi-Fi sound, there is a dedicated AK4961 24-bit ADC audio chip. The Axon Max measures 160 x 80 x 7.5 mm and weighs 188 grams.
It is priced at 2,999 CNY (approx $462 / Rs. 30,700) and will be available for sale before the end of this month only in Gold color. There is no word on international availability of the device, but we can expect the device since the earlier launched Axon smartphones are sold in the US and selected European markets.
