Sony Xperia Z5 & Z5 Compact gets Firmware Update for Stagefright Exploit Fix

The Sony Xperia Z5 & the Z5 Compact that was recently launched is now getting a new Firmware update, that would be available through the OTA (Over-the-Air) option. If you own any of the following mentioned models, it is important to quickly update your device to ensure that they are safe & the Stagefright exploit is fixed.
The update is available to the following models of the devices.
- Sony Xperia Z5 – E6603, E6653
- Sony Xperia Z5 Dual – E6633, E6683
- Sony Xperia Z5 Compact – E5803, E5823
The stagefright exploit is one of the major issues in the recent times we have seen on the Android devices, that has been fixed through this update only on these three devices. We have no update on when this fix will be done for the other products line up from Sony. The current update also fixes the heating issues on the Xperia Z5 that we had reported earlier along with enhanced camera performance & higher accuracy from the fingerprint scanner.
Here’s the Changelog:
- Optimized Camera Startup Speed
- Upgraded Contacts Database
- Added VoLTE Function
- Optimized Camera Performance
- Enhanced Fingerprint Scanner
The current build number of the devices is 32.0.A.6.66, while the new update would feature 32.0.A.6.152 that’s of 281MB in size and would be made available all over the world. We are yet to get this update on the Xperia Z5 Dual that we are testing but should soon get the same.
Alternatively if you do not find the update, you can download the PC Companion software on your computer & search for the update, because for most of the software updates Sony allows installation only through the desktop only.
