Sony Xperia XZ1 & XZ1 Compact Announced with SD835 SoC & Android 8.0 Oreo

At the ongoing IFA 2017, Sony announced two new flagship smartphones called Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact smartphones. Both these devices are the successor to last year’s Sony Xperia XZ & XZ Compact. Unlike the Galaxy Note 8 or LG V30, there are no full-screen displays with longer aspect ratio and the dual-lens camera. It got the same metal built unibody design as seen on their predecessors. Both the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact comes with the thick bezels on the top and bottom of the display. The device will be available in Black, Warm Silver, Moonlight Blue, and Venus Pink color options.
While the Xperia XZ1 sports a 5.2-inch LCD display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), the Xperia XZ1 Compact comes with a smaller 4.6-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display. The display on the Xperia XZ1 also supports HDR content. Under the hood, both the devices come powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The Xperia XZ1 offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. On the other hand, the Xperia XZ1 Compact packs 4GB of RAM and but only 32GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 256GB.
On the rear, both the devices share the same 19MP camera with 1/2.3” Exmor-RS sensor, 25mm wide G lens, f/2.0 aperture, and 1.22µm pixel size. It also includes predictive hybrid autofocus, steady-shot 5-axis stabilization, and 4K video recording. The Sony Xperia XZ1 comes with a 13MP sensor on the front, while the Xperia XZ1 Compact limits to an 8MP sensor. Even with different form factors, both the devices are backed by the same 2,700mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging. The devices are also IP68 certified which means they are water and dust resistant.
Both the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are the world’s first smartphones to run on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 3.5mm audio port, USB Type-C 3.1 port. The Sony Xperia XZ1 will be available starting September 19th and is priced at $699.99 (approx $44,900). Talking about the Xperia XZ1 Compact, it is priced at $599.99 (approx Rs. 38,500) and will go on sale from early October.
