The South Korean Giant is rolling out a new update for few Galaxy smartphones which brings Android Security Patch for the month of July. The list of devices that are receiving the update is Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017), Galaxy A8 (2018), Galaxy J7 Pro, and Galaxy J3 (2017). As you can see the list contains devices that are more than two years old, we cannot expect any functionalities to be added along with the update except for security fixes.
This update is not available for all the regions as of now which should be spreading out slowly since it is an OTA update. The July 2019 security patch fixes 10 critical and more than 12 high-risk vulnerabilities that are found in Android OS. Furthermore, it also fixes 13 vulnerabilities that are found in Samsungs software which were affecting the Galaxy smartphones. The vulnerabilities include the turning on and off the Bluetooth on the lock screen without any authentication.
The users can check for the update manually if they have not received the OTA update yet. For this, you need to go to the settings of the smartphone and tap on the system updates section. Now check if there is a file to be download and if you can find it, it needs to be downloaded and then installed. Make sure you have at least 60 percent battery on the device and also download the update via Wi-Fi connectivity to ensure you save data charges.
On the other hand, Samsung is also getting ready to unveil its upcoming flagship note device, the Galaxy Note 10 which should be offered in both 4G VoLTE as well as 5G variants. Even the fancy Galaxy Fold is getting for a re-launch which we should be known in few more days. Have you received the latest security patch on your smartphone?
