Samsung Rolling Out Android 9 Pie Update to Galaxy A8 Star & Galaxy J7 Pro in India

Samsung India has started rolling out the Android 9 Pie update to the Galaxy A8 Star as well as Galaxy J7 handsets in India starting today. This update was already received by these smartphones in other countries but India is getting this update now despite being one of the first markets where the smartphones were launched. The update also includes Android Security Patch for the month of June 2019 for the Galaxy A8 Star while the J7 Pro get May security patch.

Both the devices will be coming with the same changelog and some new features. They will be getting version 1.1 of Samsung One UI interface along with the Digital Wellbeing feature. It also comes with system-wide Night mode, Kids Mode quick toggle along with navigation gestures, improved battery life and lift-to wake gesture. The update should also be bringing few bug fixes along with fixing few vulnerabilities.

To remind you, the Galaxy A8 Star comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+(1080×2220 pixels) resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 260 COU and Adreno 512 GPU. The device also comes with 6GB of RAM which will be accompanied with 64GB on onboard storage that can be extended further up to a maximum of 400GB via microSD card slot. The handset came out of the box with Android 8 Oreo operating system and has a rear-facing fingerprint sensor.

The handset also comes with a dual camera setup on the rear with a 16MP + 24MP camera set up while on the front we can find a 24MP selfie camera. There is a 3700mAh battery on the device that comes with adaptive fast charging technology. On the other hand, the Galaxy J7 Pro smartphone comes with 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen and under the hood, there is a Exynos 7870 SoC with 1.6GHz clocking speeds. The device comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard memory which can be extended further up to 256GB.

There is a 13MP main camera sensor on the front and also a 13MP camera for selfies. The handset came out of the box with Android 7 Nougat and is now receiving the latest update.
