Samsung Galaxy S8 Active with Snapdragon 835 SoC & Android 7.0 Nougat spotted on Geekbench

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active UnderWater

The South Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung is expected to launch yet another variant of the Galaxy S8 smartphone. This new variant is expected to be the more rugged alternative to the fragile Galaxy S8. Well, this is certainly not the first time we are hearing about this smartphone as we had already heard about its existing previously once. However, this time we have a lot more to talk about it since we also have a few specs.

A new device has been spotted on the Geekbench website of what appears to be the Galaxy S8 Active. Taking a look at the listing, it looks like it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. This is the same one which is also powering the Galaxy S8 smartphones as well. And just like the Galaxy S8, this will also come with 4GB of RAM. So if you were expecting it to carry 6GB RAM, then you are in for a disappointment. But it is definitely not something to complain about since even the Galaxy S8 has 4GB of RAM and it works just fine. You can read the full review of the same here.

From the GeekBench listing, we also found that it will be running Android 7.0 Nougat software out of the box. This is also not surprising since both the other variants also ship with Nougat out of the box. Sadly this is all the info we have as of now about the device. But this at least confirms the existence of the smartphone with model number SM-G892A.

Also, we don’t exactly know how this smartphone will look like. But given the fact that it is going to be an Active variant of the Galaxy S8, it is certainly going to be a rugged one. Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this. Would you be interested in buying this Active variant of the Galaxy S8 or are you satisfied with the regular S8 variant?
