After launching their latest flagships Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung has announced to launch its budget smartphone Galaxy J3 (2016) in India on March 31st. The device is already available through Boost mobile and Virgin mobile in the U.S at a price of $179. The company is teasing the launch of the device with the hashtag #TapKickVroom, which refers to the Bike Mode feature of the device.

It comes with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) Super AMOLED display. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and coupled with Adreno 306 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded upto 128GB via provided MicroSD card slot. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the customized TouchWiz UI overlaid.

The J3 (2016) sports a 8MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus, and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. It is backed by a 2,600mAh battery that is rated to deliver 22 hours of talk time and lasts upto 349 hours on standby. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and MicroUSB 2.0.

Last year Samsung had promoted the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 as selfie devices in China and later when they are launched in India, the company promoted them as gaming devices. Now with the Galaxy J3 (2016), Samsung might be offering a better way to communicate while driving since driving is also a major factor for road accidents. The device might be sold online exclusively through Snapdeal. Stay tuned for more information.
