Samsung will be taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold smartphone starting next week in the US. However, the company is also bringing its first foldable smartphone to other markets as well. Earlier today, Samsung has officially confirmed to launch the Galaxy Fold smartphone in China on April 16th. Unlike in the US, we don’t think the Galaxy S10 5G will be available in the country anytime soon.

Just like Apple, Samsung is facing heat from local brands like Huawei in the premium segment. Even the Galaxy Fold will be competing with the Huawei’s Mate X foldable smartphone. While the Huawei Mate X sports an out-folding design, the Galaxy Fold comes with an in-folding design. Both the foldable smartphones will be available in 5G variants. However, Samsung might only launch the 4G LTE variant as of now.

While the Galaxy Fold will be costing USD 1,980 (approx INR 1,37,000) in the US, there is no information over the Chinese pricing. Talking about the specifications, the device sports a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex display with 4.2:3 aspect ratio and a 4.6-inch secondary display on the outside with 21:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it comes powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

It will be running on Android 9.0 Pie-based One UI out of the box and is optimized for foldable displays. Now, lets about look at the bunch of camera sensors placed all over the device. The notch inside the Galaxy Fold comes with a dual camera setup featuring a 10MP primary camera with f/2.2 and an 8MP depth camera with f/1.9 aperture. There is a single 10MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture placed on top of the 4.6-inch display.

On the rear, it comes with a triple camera setup featuring a 12MP primary sensor with variable aperture, a 16MP ultra-wide angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 12MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture. With all these cameras and dual displays, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is kept powered on by dual batteries with a total capacity of 4,380mAh. It comes in Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green, and Astro Blue color options.

During the Galaxy S10 India launch, DJ Koh, President and CEO and Head of IT and Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, has officially confirmed to launch the Galaxy Fold smartphone in India. As of now, there is no information over the India launch date of the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
